Inverse
A constant plus a term in 1/x. Use it when y varies inversely with x, such as gas pressure against volume at constant temperature.
Parameters
- The value y approaches at large x.
- Coefficient of 1/x, in the units of y times x.
Tips
- x cannot be zero; curve.fit reports an error if any x is 0.
- If y should vanish at large x, enter 0 as the Guess for A and check Fix.
- With no uncertainties selected, the goodness of fit is R², because the model is linear in its parameters.
- For an asymptote away from x = 0, use Shifted Reciprocal.
