Gaussian on Linear Background
A Gaussian peak on a sloped, straight-line baseline. Use it for spectral lines and detector peaks whose background changes across the measured range.
Parameters
- Peak height above the baseline.
- Peak center.
- Width (standard deviation). Full width at half maximum is about 2.355σ.
- Slope of the baseline.
- Value of the baseline at x = 0.
Tips
- Include enough baseline on both sides of the peak to determine its slope.
- b is the baseline at x = 0, which may be far from the peak; the baseline under the peak center is m x₀ + b.
- If the baseline is flat, Gaussian has one parameter fewer.
